Virtual Bullwinkle is born!
Last night Club Bullwinkle played its first ever online interclub match, taking on old rivals Redcliffe on chess.com. Each board was to have been a single game at classical time controls. Due to technical constraints this was scrapped in favour of back-to-back rapid games.
Chess.com counts it all as one big match. We count it as two. Either way it was a #StayAtHome triumph! Fun was had. Chess masterpieces were envisaged and then painted over in a wildly impressionist style. Bullwinkle emerged victorious 6½-3½ and 7½-2½.
Moulthun Ly notched his 20th rapid game for the club, thereby entering the hall of fame. Chris Hardy played his first game in 9 years and Ricky Nash his first in 20! The internet being what it is, Bullwinkle was able to call upon some of its further-flung members. Ricky played from Denmark and Justin Turner from Spain. Nik Stawski (committed club man and avowed maverick) played most of his two games in transit on the Sunshine Motorway.
