Club Bullwinkle fielded three teams in the 2024 Queensland Teams Championship (hosted by Cookies Chess at King’s College (Pimpama) on 30 November). Team “Old Hat, New Hat”, featuring GM David Smerdon on Board 1, finished the tournament in second place with 32 points, just half a point behind the winning Mars Chess Club. Successful club debuts to Nick Bond and Ryan Liaw, who both scored 6.7/7. Ryan won the Board 4 prize, while Nick shared the Board 6 prize.
